Peekaboo Backyard Eatery is an all day eatery, with yes, a fantastic backyard that is one of a kind in Kaitaia. The once mechanics workshop, and later grocer, was stripped back and reimagined with warm comfortable tones. There was an emphasis on paring back and tidying all aspects that had been updated unsympathetically over the years. We opened the space up, put an outdoor bar and cafe in, by way of cleverly opening the facade, and made the exterior suited for year round use which included a family friendly playground - inspired by the owners wanting to create a space suited for all ages, that could be a focal point for youth, and that represented their new life as parents.
